Vengaivayal, where water tank was contaminated with human faeces in 2022, boycotts polls

Residents of the Scheduled Caste hamlet of Vengaivayal boycotted polling on Thursday (April 23, 2026), even as voting proceeded peacefully in the area with residents of neighbouring Irayur withdrawing their earlier boycott call and participating in the election.

Black flags were put up in Vengaivayal as a mark of protest.
