Malayalam rapper Hirandas Murali, popularly known as Vedan, on Friday appeared before the Ernakulam Central police in connection with a sexual harassment complaint filed against him by a music researcher. He turned up before the investigation team, a day after securing anticipatory bail from the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court.
Vedan has been charged with using assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, according to the police.
The statement of the complainant was yet to be recorded, and further action would be taken only after verifying the allegations in the complaint, the police said.
Vedan was arrested and released on bail by the Thrikkakara police on Wednesday in a rape case registered on a complaint filed by a woman doctor. He had already been granted anticipatory bail in the case by the Kerala High Court.
