Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi founder and Chidambaram M.P., Thol. Thirumavalavan, on Tuesday said that he met Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on the occasion of his completing 100 days as Chief Minister and reiterated that the State government would get the support of the VCK to complete the full term.

In a press conference, Mr. Thirumavalavan appreciated Mr. Vijay for bringing a slew of resolutions reiterating the primacy of the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu and rejecting the delimitation exercise as envisaged by the Union government.

He further said, “When I spoke to the CM, I reiterated that he should follow in the footsteps of Perarignar Anna, Kalaignar… fight and speak for State’s rights and autonomy. Tamil nationalism is not hate politics against other linguistic communities, but it is against caste annihilation, secularism, State autonomy and coming together of ethnic communities. That’s how our Tamil nationalism public rally was conceived. We had brought the resolutions passed to his attention during our meeting.”
He said that the drugs angle in the recent case of murder of engineering college student, Amudhan, should be probed and that sale of drugs should be controlled by forming a anti-drug squad.

Answering a question on law-and-order issues in the last three months, Mr. Thirumavalavan said, “When it comes to social conflicts, violence and murder, no particular party or a State government can be singled out. We all have the responsibility – social activists also have a role to play here. We have taken this to the attention of the CM. He should focus on eliminating caste-murders, and the proliferation of drugs.”

He further said, “There is no need to compare our relationship with the DMK and the TVK. We have given our support to the TVK to form the government and we have been given a place in the cabinet. A first meeting has taken place regarding formation of the alliance. The CM has said that another meeting will be convened after the assembly session. It has just been 100 days since we joined hands with TVK. I had already confirmed during the public rally that we will continue to be with them.”
