Vallalar’s birth anniversary will be celebrated for three days every year, says M.K. Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday (February 15, 2026)  announced that the birth anniversary of Vallalar will be celebrated for three days every year.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a day-long International  Vallalar Conference, organised by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, on the land belonging to the  Ekambaranathar Temple at Kilpauk.

He also announced the establishment of a research centre on the saint in Chennai. It would come up at the HR&CE Department headquarters in Nungambakkam. The announcement followed a request made by industrialist B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, who also praised the government for having organised an event to commemorate Vallalar on such a grand scale. He urged the Chief Minister to start certificate courses on the ‘Sanmarga’ teachings of Ramalinga Swamigal at colleges and universities.

Among the other announcements that the Chief Minister made were  Vallalar’s book, titled Spiritual Alchemy, would be brought out by the HR&CE Department and the establishment of Vallalar  Annadhanam  Centres at Mettukuppam, Karunguzhi, and Marudhur.

Mr. Stalin opened the board with the new name, Vallalar High Road, for  Thiruvottiyur High Road in north Chennai and inaugurated the completed portions of the Vallalar International Centre at Vadalur. He urged members of the public and the ‘Sanmargis’ to work together to build a society based on love, compassion, and virtue, and ensure that  Vallalar’s ideologies were not be distorted. 

Ministers P.K. Sekarbabu and M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, HR&CE Department Secretary K. Manivasan, and Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran were present on the occasion. Herbal and siddha exhibitions and a photo feature on the life and works of Vallalar were held as part of the conference.
