In a surprising development, senior Congress functionary V.S. Aradhya was appointed as the new Chairman of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) on Monday, September 29, just three days after Congress spokesperson Niketh Raj M. assumed charge as the Chairman. Mr. Niketh Raj has now been appointed as Vice-Chairman, BMTC.

Mr. Raj had been appointed as BMTC Chairman on September 26. However, the State government issued a fresh appointment on Monday, naming Mr. Aradhya to the position.

According to a BMTC release, Mr. Aradhya officially assumed office on Monday. The ceremony was attended by Ramachandran R., Managing Director; Shilpa M., Director (Information Technology); and Abdul Ahad, IPS, Director (Security & Vigilance) of BMTC.
