Surprise inspections by the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) in Hyderabad uncovered three clinics allegedly run by unqualified practitioners who were administering steroids, painkillers, antibiotic injections and Schedule H drugs, raising serious concerns over patient safety.

The inspections, conducted at Saidabad and Singareni Colony on June 26, also found clinics providing allopathic treatment without the required qualifications or authorisation.

According to the TGMC, Srinivasa Medical & General Clinic, run by Srinivasa Chari, was found to be offering allopathic medical services without recognised medical qualifications. Hanumanth Naik Clinic, operated by Hanumanth Naik, was also allegedly providing allopathic treatment without the necessary qualifications or permission. At DRK Clinic, officials found that its practitioner, Dr. Ramesh, who holds a BAMS degree, was practising modern medicine without authorisation.

The Council said the use of steroids, antibiotics, painkillers and other Schedule H drugs by unqualified practitioners posed a serious threat to public health and announced that strict action would be initiated against those engaged in illegal medical practice.

The TGMC further warned that action would continue against individuals displaying fake or unrecognised medical qualifications, as well as those providing services such as scanning, ECG and echocardiography without the necessary authorisation.

The Council appealed to citizens to report suspected quacks through its WhatsApp helpline at 9154382727.
