Mr. Shah was supposed to inaugurate the college and hospital at 11 a.m. Accordingly, arrangements had been made and thousands of people were waiting for his arrival at the venue near Gabbur in Hubballi.

Sources said that Mr. Shah was hail and healthy in the morning, but subsequently fell unwell.
