CPI national council member J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy alleged that the Union Budget – 2026, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday, has failed to do justice to Andhra Pradesh yet again. No funds were allocated for the South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone.

The CPI leaders and activists staged a protest outside Visakhapatnam railway station on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Murthy said no mention on when the Visakhapatnam-headquartered SCoR Zone would be operationalised. The long-pending demand for overnight trains from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru, Chennai and Tirupati, has been ignored.

He further alleged that there was no clarity on the funding of the Polavaram project, and no announcement on allocation of funds for the development of the backward region of North Andhra. He alleged that the budget was ‘pro-corporates’ and ‘anti-people’.

CPI State secretariat member A. Vimala, party leaders M. Pydiraju and SK Rehaman participated in the protest.
