School uniforms were distributed to students of Chennai Higher Secondary School, Royapettah, as part of an initiative to support students’ education and promote girls’ empowerment with community participation.

The programme was jointly organised by Nurturing Futures, Working Women’s Forum (WWF), Indian Cooperative Network for Women (ICNW), and India Literacy Project (ILP), said a press release.

Addressing the gathering, Nandhini Azad, President, WWF (India) highlighted the role of the Forum in supporting women working in the informal sector and strengthening women and their families in their respective communities. She also spoke about the organisation’s efforts to create better opportunities for girls and promote their education.

Rangarajan, Country Manager, ILP, spoke about the transformative role of education in shaping children’s futures. Baskar, representative of Namma School Namma Ooru Palli (NSNOP), urged the students to study well, maintain discipline, develop positive habits and remain confident while pursuing their dreams.
