The Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Mandir at Sector–2 of the Ukkunagaram Township of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant celebrated its silver jubilee with spiritual fervour and grandeur on Sunday (December 21). The temple began as a bhajan centre in 1991 and evolved into a full-fledged spiritual and service centre in 2000.

Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A. Shyam Prasad, along with R. Lakshmana Rao, State president, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (SSSSO), Andhra Pradesh, and P.R.S.N. Naidu, district president, Visakhapatnam, took part. Convener of Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi G. Ramakrishna presented a comprehensive report highlighting the samithi’s 25-year journey of spirituality and service.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Shyam Prasad said humility and selfless service are the hallmark of SSSSO. Mr. Lakshmana Rao observed that the samithi exemplifies Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message of “Service to Man is Service to God”. P.R.S.N. Naidu lauded the temple’s efforts towards the welfare of the poor, orphans, the elderly, persons with disabilities and students.
