Tamil Nadu is plagued by rampant power cuts, rise in the prices of essential commodities and law and order issues in the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government, alleged Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday (September 13, 2026).

Speaking at a function in Chennai, Mr. Udhayanidhi said the DMK was entering a very important phase. In two days, the DMK would celebrate its ‘Mupperum Vizha’. In these 77 years, the party has witnessed so many victories and defeats. Beyond electoral victories and defeats, the DMK has always been a party that stands with the people, he said.

Even though the DMK missed the opportunity to come back to power, he said it has been functioning effectively as an Opposition party, and its cadre will always stand with the people.

“The people of Tamil Nadu are facing various problems because of the party in power. Every day, a new problem keeps emerging. There are power cuts. There is no need to tell how the law and order situation is in the State. The prices of essentials are on the rise. But when questions were raised, the Chief Minister was unable to answer. Because he is unable to answer, they are making defamatory allegations against the DMK and our leader [M.K. Stalin],” he said.

“In the history of Tamil Nadu, we have never seen such an uncivilised and a dummy Chief Minister [C. Joseph Vijay]. When they [the TVK] came to power, they made various promises. But they have not implemented any new schemes. This government is involved in renaming the schemes and pasting stickers on the schemes rolled out by our Dravidian model government,” Mr. Udhayanidhi said.

“In the upcoming bypolls, we must teach a proper lesson to this dummy Chief Minister, and it will be the beginning of the downfall of the current regime,” he said.
