Two youth held for chain snatching in Vellore

Two youths were arrested by Bagayam police in Vellore, on Saturday, for snatching 10 sovereigns of gold chain from an insurance company staffer recently.

The police said the arrested persons were identified as Kenerson, 21, and his accomplice K. Diwakar, 21. They were residents of Katpadi in Vellore town.

Initial inquiry revealed that the victim Kameela Manjula, 54, worked at a private insurance firm. . On August 25, she was returning to her house near Christian Medical College (CMC) in Bagayam when the duo in a two-wheeler reportedly snatched her gold chain and fled the spot.

The police said a case was registered by Bagayam police. Special teams analysed CCTV camera footage along the route. The team nabbed the duo from their hideout in Katpadi. The police also recovered the gold chain from the duo. Later, they were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is under way.
