Two proposals that had once received top billing for improving the drinking water supply to the rapidly-growing Thiruvananthapuram city region have been gathering dust for the past several years.
The Neyyar Water Supply Scheme with a total capacity of 120 million litres a day (mld) and a much older proposal for increasing the storage level in the Peppara dam remain non-starters, despite the capital city’s drinking water requirements growing in recent years.
