Two killed as goods vehicle collides with tanker near Basavakalyan

Two people were killed when a goods vehicle collided with a tanker on the national highway near Chandakapur village in Basavakalyan taluk on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as 19-year-old Rafiq Bagwan, a resident of Kasar Shirshi in Maharashtra, and 45-year-old Nazeer Bagwan of Tururi.

Both were travelling in the goods vehicle carrying vegetables.

According to the police, the vehicle was transporting vegetables to Mannakhelli via Humnabad when the driver lost control of it.

The vehicle rammed a road divider and then, collided with the tanker.

Following the impact, the goods vehicle veered off the road and fell into a roadside ditch.

Rafiq and Nazeer suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot, the police said.

A case has been registered at the local Traffic Police Station. Further investigation is under way.
