The Cyber Crime Wing has arrested two accused allegedly involved in recruiting and trafficking Indian nationals to cyber scam compounds in Cambodia.

Investigation revealed that the accused were actively involved in luring victims with promises of lucrative overseas employment, facilitating their movement to Cambodia, and assisting organised cyber scam networks engaged in cyber slavery and online financial fraud activities. Considering the gravity of the offences, the organised nature of the criminal activities, and the likelihood of the accused continuing to engage in similar offences, preventive detention proceedings were initiated against one of the accused under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, 1982 (Goondas Act).

The Cyber Crime Wing issued an advisory to the public asking them to verify all overseas job offers only through authorised recruitment agencies and official government channels like (www.emigrant.gov.in). They were also asked to ensure that the recruiting agency is registered with the Ministry of External Affairs/Protector of Emigrants.
