Worldwide Veterinary Services (WVS), Ooty, organised a two-day horse health camp on December 9 and 10 in Mysuru and Srirangapatana and offered free treatment to horses.
In all, 47 horses were examined and treated — 20 in Mysuru and 27 in Srirangapatna.
The event was conducted in association with People For Animals (PFA), Mysuru, and the horses received tetanus vaccinations and deworming with 1% oral ivermectin suspension.
The veterinary care activities, jointly undertaken by a team led by Dr. Shivani Jain from WVS Ooty, and Dr. Amardeep Singh from PFA Mysuru, addressed several equine health concerns, including lameness, tooth rasping, and eye infections, apart from carrying out hoof corrections.
The organisers said such camps aim to enhance the health, welfare, and working conditions of equines in the region.
