In the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) swept the polls in Madurai district with wins in eight out of the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district.

DMK and its alliance Congress managed to win the remaining two constituencies. However, AIADMK suffered a massive setback. The party failed to win in any of the constituencies and in some of the constituencies it was even pushed to a distant third.

Senior leaders of DMK and AIADMK suffered heavy losses in the 2026 Assembly elections.
