The National Ayush Mission is offering a training course, “Soothikamithram”, to women in Ayurveda-based scientific postpartum care, with technical support from Ayurveda Medical Education department.

The scheme has been envisaged so that the service of women who are properly trained in delivering Ayurveda-based postpartum care can be made available across the State, Health Minister Veena George said.

The three months’ certificate course will be conducted by National Ayush Mission’s National Institute of Training in Ayush. Women between the ages 20-50 years and who have passed Class X can participate in the course. The course can be taken up by Government agencies like Kudumbashree.

The details of those who pass the course will be made available to the public through an online portal. By training women to deliver postpartum care in the traditional way, more employment opportunities can be created for women, it is hoped, Ms. George said.
