The Hyderabad City Police’s Women’s Safety Wing arrested trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy late on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) in connection with a sexual harassment case filed based on a complaint by a fellow probationary officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA).

The case was initially registered at the Attapur police station before being transferred to the Women’s Safety Wing’s She Teams for investigation.

An officer involved in the investigation said that the accused had initially evaded the arrest and investigation by switching off his mobile phones and resisted the arrest during apprehension. Following his arrest, he was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a medical examination and is expected to be produced before a court in Rajendranagar.

The arrest comes days after reports that Uday Krishna Reddy had allegedly attempted to end life and was admitted to a private hospital in S.R. Nagar, where he underwent treatment.

The case stems from a complaint filed by a 30-year-old married trainee IPS officer from Karnataka, who alleged that Uday Krishna Reddy repeatedly sexually harassed and assaulted her.

Based on the complaint, the Attapur Police registered a case under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, an internal inquiry committee at the National Police Academy reportedly examined CCTV footage and other evidence before concluding that the allegations had merit. The academy subsequently placed Uday Krishna Reddy under suspension pending further proceedings.
