Traffic diversions on Srisailam Highway as road caves in near Dindi Reservoir

Heavy and continuous rainfall brought by Cyclone Montha has caused a 400-metre stretch of National Highway 765, popularly known as the Srisailam Highway, to cave in near the Dindi Reservoir, leading to major traffic diversions along the route.

The collapse was reported on Wednesday night (October 28, 2025), disrupting vehicular movement between Hyderabad and Srisailam. Traffic police swiftly cordoned off the damaged section and announced diversions from Hajipur junction to ensure commuter safety.

Alternative route

As per the revised traffic plan, vehicles heading from Srisailam towards Hyderabad are being rerouted via Hajipur junction, Tadoor village, Thirumalapur junction, Dindichinthalapalli, Kondareddypally, and then back onto the Srisailam Highway. Similarly, vehicles travelling from Hyderabad to Srisailam are being directed along the same alternative route. .

Achampet Circle Inspector Nagaraju told The Hindu that the diversions have caused congestion and delays along the Srisailam corridor. “The diversions are expected to remain in effect until the repair work is completed. Traffic movement on the highway should resume by tomorrow once the damaged portion is restored,” he said.
