To create awareness about environmental conservation, an eco-friendly green polling booth has been set up at the Forest Higher Secondary School in Pudur Nadu village atop Jawadhu Hills in Tirupattur district, for tribals in nine hamlets to cast their votes on polling day.

Officials of the Directorate of Panchayats, which coordinated in setting up green polling booths along with the Forest Department, said that among Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, the green polling booth has been set up in the hills only in Tirupattur district with a sizeable tribal population. This is the first time that such a green polling booth has been set up in the hills for Assembly polls in the district since Independence.
