A three-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at an apartment complex in Nizampet on Sunday (January 4, 2026) morning.

The deceased has been identified as Machabhakthuni Arjun Kumar, son of M. Sarath Kumar, and a resident of Chandranagar Colony in Chintal.

According to the KPHB police, preliminary probe revealed that Sarath Kumar dropped his family at his in-laws’ residence at Vertex Prime Apartments in Nizampet on Saturday evening and returned home.

On Sunday morning around 8 a.m., the child’s grandparents took him for a walk on the ground floor of the apartment complex. During the walk, the boy reportedly wandered away to play in the surrounding area and went missing.

After searching the premises, the family found the child floating in the apartment’s swimming pool. He was immediately pulled out by his grandfather and rushed to a private hospital in the vicinity. Doctors at the hospital attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation but declared the child brought dead.

A case has been booked by the KPHB police and further investigation is underway.
