Three women, including a mother-daughter duo, were killed in two separate instances of wall collapse in Cuddalore and Kallakurichi districts on Wednesday (October 22, 2025).

The police said Ashothai, 69, and her daughter, Jaya, 40, were killed when a section of the wall of their house at Andarmullipallam near Puduchatram in Cuddalore district collapsed on them. The two were farm labourers.

According to the police, the wall collapsed because of heavy overnight rain. The walls had weakened and caved in at around 10 a.m. The bodies were retrieved and sent to the Parangipettai General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

In a similar incident, a 60-year-old woman was killed after a wall of her house in Kongarapalayam near Kallakurichi collapsed on Wednesday morning. The victim was identified as Vanamayili.
