A tragic Sunday outing ended in disaster when three senior Intermediate students drowned at Mypadu beach in Nellore district.

The victims were identified as Pathan Humayun (17) and Sameed (17), both from Kotamitta Colony in Nellore city, and Pathan Mohammad Tazeem (17) of Narayanareddypeta.

According to police, the boys were swept away by strong tides after venturing into the sea despite warnings from onlookers. Local fishermen heard their cries for help and rushed to their aid but could not save them. They later retrieved the bodies and brought them ashore. The bodies were sent to the Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Following the incident, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, whose constituency includes the beach, expressed her condolences to the bereaved families. She called for immediate enhancement of safety measures along the beach and appealed to tourists to heed warnings to ensure their leisure time remains safe.
