Three persons arrested for killing man after verbal spat near Ambur

Three persons were arrested by Umarabad police for reportedly killing a farmer at Devalapuram village near Ambur town in Tirupattur on Saturday allegedly after quarrel over rash driving.

Police said that arrested persons were identified as M. Karthik, 35, his father B. Mani, 64, and A. Nazer, 55, who runs a petty shop in the village. Initial inquiry revealed that victim V. Arun Kumar, 35, a farmer, was waiting for his friend near a petty shop in the village. Karthik allegedly drove his two-wheeler in a rash manner with dust getting getting spilled on to Arun.

Arun and Karthik engaged in an argument and also exchanged blows. Mani, Karthik’s father also beat up Arun leaving him badly injured. Based on an alert, Umarabad police rushed to the spot and rescued Arun and admitted him at Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Vellore, where he succumbed to his injuries. The arrested persons were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A case was registered and further probe is under way.
