Three MBBS students from Malabar Medical College were killed in a road accident at Kuruvangad, near Koyilandy, in Kozhikode district of Kerala early Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Nandakishore, 22, of Karunagappally, Abhiyan Rahman of Kayamkulam and Abhinav Suresh, 20 of Alanellur.

The accident took place around 2.30 a.m. when the electric scooter they were travelling on crashed into an electric post and fell into a nearby drainage. Some truck drivers who noticed the incident carried out the initial rescue operation.

Police officers from the Koyilandy station said the three, who sustained severe injuries, were declared dead at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

Surveillance camera visuals from various locations have been collected to ascertain the cause of the accident, they said.
