Three luxury cars in a car repair workshop were gutted at Kagithapattarai that comes under Vellore Corporation limits near Collectorate office, off Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH 48), after fire broke out in the workshop on Wednesday.

Police said that it was around 7 a.m when residents noticed thick smoke coming from the workshop. Immediately, they alerted landowner B. Ganesan, and Vellore North police. Despite their efforts to douse the flames, the fire spread to the entire workshop, that is around 600 sq.ft. The fire also spread to two adjoining houses and damaged wooden windows and walls of the houses. However, no one was injured in the incident.

On being informed, a 10-member fire fighters’ team from Vellore town rushed to the spot. Before firefighters could reach the spot, fire spread to the entire workshop. After more than an hour, a 10-member firefighter team doused it. The police said that goods, mostly cars, worth ₹1 crore were destroyed in the accident.
