The State government has suspended three officials for dereliction of duty after worms were found in mid-day meals served at two government schools in Koppal district.

The suspended officials are Education Officer under the PM Poshan Shakti Nirman Scheme in the Zilla Panchayat limits Anita, Assistant Director in Koppal taluk Gudi Mallikarjun and Assistant Director in Kushtagi taluk Mahantayya Soppimath.

Suspension orders have been issued by the State government.

The action followed incidents at Nripatunga High School in Bisaralli village of Koppal taluk and the Government High School at Mudanur in Kushtagi taluk, where poor quality food was served and worms were found in the mid-day meals.

The issue came to light after reports were published in the media, prompting the authorities to take disciplinary action against the officials concerned.
