Three people were injured due to electric shock during Bathukamma celebrations in Kukatpally on Monday (September 30, 2025) evening, after a Bathukamma allegedly came into contact with overhead high-tension wires.
According to preliminary information, residents of Madhavaram Colony in Vivekananda Nagar had prepared a large Bathukamma as part of the festivities. While it was being carried, it is suspected to have brushed against the live wires, causing three participants to suffer electric shocks.
Locals rushed the injured to a nearby private hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
Kukatpally police said they had not received any complaint in connection with the incident and no case has been registered so far.
