GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg speaking at the valedictory event of the 3-day CREDAI Property Expo in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The 11th CREDAI Property Expo elicited an encouraging response from developers and home buyers, with over 14,000 visitors attending the three-day event, which concluded at Gadiraju Palace Convention Centre on Beach Road at MVP Colony here on Sunday (December 21).

Families, first-time homebuyers, investors and non-resident Indians turned up in good numbers as leading developers from the region showcased over 850 residential and commercial projects. Banks and allied service providers offered housing loans and related support.

Addressing a gathering at the valedictory function, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said owning a home was an important emotional milestone for any person. He noted that Visakhapatnam’s real estate sector has witnessed rapid growth in recent years. The recent amendments to the Building Rules, 2017, he said, were aimed at encouraging safe, sustainable and investor-friendly urban development.

Developers said visitors showed clear intent, spending considerable time comparing projects and seeking information on pricing, statutory approvals and construction timelines. Affordable housing, gated communities, villas and ready-to-move-in homes emerged as the most sought-after segments.

CREDAI-Visakhapatnam president E. Ashok Kumar said the response exceeded expectations, with quality enquiries, spot bookings and follow-up site visits.

Chairperson of CREDAI-Visakhapatnam chapter V. Dharmender said reforms introduced by Mr. Garg, particularly faster plan approvals, have given a boost to the sector and that rising investments are set to transform the city’s real estate landscape.

Chapter secretary V. Sreenu said better layout planning and effective crowd management ensured smooth visitor movement and productive interactions between buyers and developers.

The valedictory programme also saw the presentation of the B.R. Raju Memorial Awards 2025 to meritorious B.Arch students of Andhra University. Hoarding sponsors were felicitated, awards were given to winners in the Builder and Building Material Supplier categories and a walk-in visitor won the bumper draw prize of a Honda Activa electric two-wheeler sponsored by Hamsa Honda.

Convenor of the expo, Ch. Govida Raju and CREDAI Andhra Pradesh president Bayana Srinivas Rao also spoke on the occasion.
