According to information reaching from Nandyal, the private bus was travelling from Nellore to Hyderabad. As it reached Sirivella Meta on the Allagadda – Nandyal National Highway, the bus driver lost control over the vehicle as one of its tyre bursted. The bus ran over the road divider and collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction.

The drivers of both the vehicles and the lorry cleaner were caught in the inferno and died inside the vehicles. The driver of a DCM vehicle passing on the highway rushed to the help of the passengers and broke the window panes of the bus for the passengers to come out of the bus.

There were nearly 36 passengers in the bus at the time of accident and some of them suffered injuries. Police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot, doused the flames and shifted the injured to hospital. The vehicles were completely gutted in the accident.
