Three boys, all aged 14, went missing after they were reportedly swept away by strong waves while playing in the sea at Rushikonda beach near the IT SEZ junction in Visakhapatnam on Friday (October 2, 2026).

According to preliminary information, the three boys were part of a group of students from the Madhurawada area who had come to Rushikonda beach on holiday. The boys reportedly ventured into the sea and were playing in the water when strong waves pulled them into deeper water.

The other members of the group raised an alarm after the three boys went missing. Local residents and swimmers immediately rushed to the spot and attempted to trace the boys, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

On receiving information, Madhurawada Assistant Commissioner of Police S. Appalaraju, PM Palem Inspector G. Balakrishna and other police personnel reached the spot and launched a search operation.

Local swimmers, community guards and Marine Police personnel were pressed into service to search the stretch of the sea where the boys were reportedly swept away. A scuba-diving team was also requisitioned to assist in the search operation.

Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi reached the location and was personally monitoring the search and rescue operation. Police and other emergency personnel were continuing their efforts to trace the missing boys.

Further details, including the identities of the boys, are awaited.
