Three men were arrested by the Gandhi Nagar police for kidnapping a 28-year-old man and extorting money from him following an online betting-related dispute in Secunderabad. The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody, police said on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

The arrested men were identified as Uggi Veeresh, 34, a cab driver, Gaddala Kranthi Kumar, 35, a private employee, and Thudi Shyam Sundhar, 32, a bike mechanic, all residents of the Kushaiguda area. According to the police, the trio lured the victim, 28-year-old Bhalaiya Kaushik Kumar Dalabhai, to collect ₹3 lakh allegedly owed to him for playing a roulette game through an online betting application.

Police said that on January 31, the accused kidnapped the victim in a car from near CGO Towers at Kavadiguda and took him to Jangaon, where he was threatened with death and a ransom demand of ₹1 crore was made. The accused later extorted ₹4 lakh from the victim through bank transfers before abandoning him the next morning at Raigiri in Yadagirigutta.

Following a complaint, Gandhi Nagar police launched an investigation and apprehended the accused at ECIL X roads. An amount of ₹3.5 lakh and the car used in the crime were recovered from their possession. Further investigation is underway.
