VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Thursday (October 15, 2026) said he had raised the possibility of targeted voter deletions in the Kolathur constituency with former Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin weeks before the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. He said that Mr. Stalin, however, assured him the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise was being conducted properly.

More than one lakh voters had been removed from the electoral rolls in Kolathur, of whom around 20,000 were classified as deceased, while the remaining names were deleted under categories such as permanently shifted or duplicate entries, Mr. Thirumavalavan said at an INDIA bloc protest in Chennai on Thursday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the SIR exercise.

He said a woman had contacted him and warned a conspiracy was under way and that Mr. Stalin could find it difficult to win from Kolathur.

After she repeated the warning, Mr. Thirumavalavan said he facilitated a conversation between her and former Minister P.K. Sekarbabu. He later raised the issue directly with Mr. Stalin.

Mr. Stalin had told him that the SIR exercise was being carried out properly with the assistance of Booth Level Agents and that there was no such problem, Mr. Thirumavalavan said.

“I am recounting this not to accuse any individual, but to explain that the warning had reached us several weeks before the election,” he said, alleging the deletions indicated targeted action.
