The registration validity and completion timelines of registered real estate projects was extended by four months

The registration validity and completion timelines of registered real estate projects was extended by four months

The Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TGRERA) has extended the registration validity and completion timelines of registered real estate projects by four months, citing the prevailing situation in West Asia and treating it as a ‘war’ for invoking the force majeure provisions under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

The extension will apply to projects whose original, revised or extended completion dates fall on or after February 28, according to an order issued by TGRERA on July 31, 2026. The decision follows an advisory issued by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on the same day.

Under the order, the validity of registration and corresponding completion timelines of eligible projects registered with TGRERA will automatically stand extended by four months.

Between February 28 and July 31

For projects whose completion date, revised completion date or extended completion date falls between February 28 and July 31, the completion timeline will be extended up to November 30.

TGRERA said the measure was being taken under Section 6 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, read with Rule 6 of the Telangana Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017.

The authority further clarified that developers would not be required to submit separate applications or pay any fee to avail themselves of the extension. The relief will apply automatically to projects falling within the specified criteria.
