Tension gripped Peralassery in Kannnur, Kerala, after unidentified persons hurled a bomb at the house of a woman who had reportedly rented a building for the local BJP office.

The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Monday when the group arriving on a motorcycle threw the bomb at the residence of Shyamala at Palliyam.

The explosive hit the front railing of the house and went off. No injuries were reported.

The attack occurred ahead of the scheduled inauguration of the BJP office on Peralassery temple road on Wednesday.

Following the incident, the police have beefed up security in the area.

BJP Kannur South district president Biju Elakkuzhi and other party leaders visited the spot.

A bomb squad from Kannur is expected to inspect the area on Tuesday as part of the investigation.
