Ten more cases of shigellosis were reported in Kerala on Friday.

Three cases were reported from Kozhikode, two each from Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Malappuram and one case from Palakkad, taking the total number of cases this year to 196. Of this, 120 cases were reported in the month of June.

Other infectious diseases

There is no respite in the reporting of other infectious diseases too, with dengue fever cases maintaining the rising trend, reporting a total of 98 cases across districts. Leptospirosis also showed a spike, with 21 cases being reported on Friday.

Ernakulam accounted for 45 out of the 90 cases which were reported across the State.

After a lull, on Thursday, a case of Mpox had been diagnosed in a 43-year-old man from Kilimanoor in Thiruvananthapuram, who had returned from Saudi Arabia. He is being treated in the isolation ward at the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
