Telugu speaking people from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh stranded in Bahrain following the ongoing war in West Asia, are likely to be moved to Dammam, the third largest city of Saudi Arabia to onward journey back to India.

Hopes soared for the hapless tourists as 20 people from Hyderabad were shifted by the representatives of the Gulf Air from Manama City in Bharain to Dammam on Tuesday (March 3, 2026) night.

“The Gulf Air representatives contacted these 20 passengers, who had checked in and got the immigration stamp on their passports on February 28. They were picked from different parts of the Manama City and taken to Dammam,” Gonesh Solomon Raj from Hyderabad, who is stuck in Bharain since February 28, told The Hindu over phone call.

Thanking the Bahrain Telugu Association, which swung into action to facilitate hassle free travel for the stranded Telugu people by contacting the Saudi Arabian diplomatic mission, Indian Embassy and Gulf Air, Mr. Solomon Raj said because of their efforts, 20 Indians were put on the Mumbai and Delhi bound flights from Dammam today.

He pointed out that the Telugu Association had also reached out to the Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ramamohan Naidu seeking additional flights to airlift the stranded passengers.

Mr. Solomon Raj said the Telugu tourists were told that they would be taken in batches to Dammam and then put on the Indian bound flights in a day or two. “We got in touch with at least 60 Hyderabad bound passengers, who are stranded in Bahrain since the war broke out between Iran-Israel-USA,” said J. Prem Kumar, another person from Hyderabad, who works as a physical director at an educational institution. He noted that the Hyderabad tourists were in touch with each other getting the latest updates.
