Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday (November 26, 2025) appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare Bengaluru-Hyderabad as a defence and aerospace corridor as such a move will contribute to the Viksit Bharat objectives.

Speaking at opening of French firm Safran’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) for LEAP engines and ground breaking for M88 military engines maintenance facility in Hyderabad, in which Mr. Modi participated virtually, the Chief Minister made the appeal while also pointing to how Hyderabad has emerged as one of the leading MRO and aero engine hubs in India.

25 major global companies and 1,500 MSMEs in Telangana

“We have more than 25 major global companies and over 1,500 MSMEs. Our world-class infrastructure and dedicated aerospace parks and SEZs have attracted several mega investments from leading global companies. We are now the top choice for highly complex precision engineering projects. Hyderabad is chosen by the likes of Safran, Boeing, Airbus, Tata, Bharat Forge and others for manufacturing and research and development projects,” Mr. Reddy said, adding how the State’s progressive industrial as well as MSME policies are ranked amongst the best in the country.

Aerospace and defence exports race past pharma exports in Telangana

Telangana’s exports in aerospace and defence doubled last year, reaching ₹30,742 crore in nine months and in the process went past pharma exports for the first time, he said. Seeking to highlight the State’s emphasis on creating a pool of talented skilled workforce, he said skill is a very important criteria to attract aerospace investments. Telangana has upgraded 100 industrial training institutes (ITIs) into Advanced Technology Centres in partnership with Tata Technologies, making young people job-ready for advanced manufacturing. Specialised training for aircraft maintenance figures in the plans of Young India Skills University of the government. “We invite Safran to become a lead partner in aerospace and MRO skilling efforts,” he said, thanking the firm for choosing Hyderabad for the facilities.

Over 1,000 skilled technicians and engineers to be employed

It [Safran’s] is the first ever MRO centre for LEAP engines in India and will employ over thousand skilled technicians and engineers besides creating new business opportunities for local MSMEs and precision engineering companies, he said, reiterating Telangana’s support to firms such as Safran.

The Chief Minister invited the Prime Minister and leadership of the company to Telangana Rising 2047 Global Summit scheduled at the proposed Bharat Future City on December 8 and 9. “We are building Bharat Future City on 30,000 acres. It will be Net Zero and India’s answer to New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Singapore or South Korea,” the Chief Minister said.
