Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (MCK) Mayor’s post despite political manoeuvring and desperate attempts by the rival parties to stop it from winning the mayoral election, said Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

Even though the BJP won 30 divisions and had the backing of independents, attempts were made to obstruct our win, Mr. Sanjay said, taking a dig at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

He was speaking to reporters along with the BJP’s newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Kolagani Srinivas and Y. Sunil Rao, in Karimnagar on Monday (February 13, 2026).

Mr. Sanjay slammed the Congress, the BRS and the AIMIM accusing them of orchestrating several overt and covert efforts to stall the BJP’s victory.

“The people of Karimnagar delivered a clear mandate for the BJP in the MCK elections. The BJP had outplayed its opponents and won decisively with the support of people and divine blessings,” he added.

Our long-cherished dream of hoisting the saffron flag over the MCK has been fulfilled, he said, reiterating that the newly elected Council will strive to develop Karimnagar in a mission-mode.

He said, “The BJP’s success in Karimnagar is rooted in the development initiatives implemented with the support and funding provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I extend my sincere gratitude to the BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao for his unwavering support throughout the Karimnagar Mayor election process.”
