An agriculture officer from Mominpet mandal in Vikarabad district was arrested on Wednesday (September 24, 2025) by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of ₹50,000.

The officer, identified as Bupathi Jaya Shankar, allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh from a complainant in exchange for issuing licences for complainant’s shop to sell fertiliser, seeds and pesticides. He accepted ₹50,000 as part payment when ACB officials from the Rangareddy unit laid a trap and apprehended him.

Officials said the bribe amount was recovered from him and he was arrested before being sent to judicial remand. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Phone numbers to lodge complaints on demand for bribes

The ACB has urged the public to report any demands for bribes by government employees by dialling the toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp at 9440446106, or via the bureau’s official handles on Facebook and X. Authorities assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
