Proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council on Tuesday began on an unusual note, with the House assembling an hour later than scheduled due to a technical, software-related glitch that disrupted the system operations.

None of the mikes in both the Houses functioned, forcing the Speaker of the Assembly and Chairman of the Council to adjourn the proceedings.

Legislative Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu informed the members that the delay was purely technical in nature, and urged them not to politicise the issue. He clarified that the House had enough quorum and questioned the absence of some opposition party members, stating that the House was fully competent to transact business.

The technical snag not only affected the Assembly but also delayed proceedings in the Legislative Council by about an hour.

In an immediate workaround, members in the Assembly were provided cordless microphones to enable them to participate in discussions without interruption, while officials worked to resolve the issue.

Despite the unexpected start, the House resumed normal functioning shortly thereafter, with the Speaker emphasising that administrative and technical challenges should not be misconstrued as political controversies.
