Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd chairman and Telugu Desam Party’s Nellimarla in-charge Karrotu Bangarraju on Friday said that the TDP would win maximum number of seats in the upcoming local body elections as people are happy with the speedy construction of the Bhogapuram international airport. He noted that the airport would economic activity in Nellimarla and Vizianagaram assembly constituencies apart from other places in the North Andhra region.

He alleged that in the previous elections the YSRCP won all the four ZPTC seats and a majority of the MPTC seats in the constituency where the airport was constructed by frightening the locals.

Speaking to media here, he said that the opposition party is unhappy with the construction progress of the airport and is desperately trying to take credit for it, though the construction was initiated in 2015 by the then TDP-led NDA government.

Mr. Bangarraju met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati recently and briefed him that the party had gained new impetus with the airport becoming a reality.

“YSRCP leaders are distressed with the successful validation of the first flight on January 4, 2026. Despite the YSRCP’s efforts to stop land acquisition for the airport, villagers handed over 2,700 acres. Those who benefitted from the fair compensation and rehabilitation in the newly constructed colonies will teach a lesson to the opposition party in the ensuing local body elections,” said Mr. Bangarraju.
