The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders condoled the death of the party leader Md. Zakir Shareef, who died in a road accident near Medarametla on Friday while returning to Nellore from Vijayawada.

MA and UD Minister Ponguru Narayana, A.P. Waqf Board Chairman Sk. Abdul Aziz, MLC Beda Ravichandra, in-charge Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav and TDP leaders Siva Prasad, Vemireddy Vijayabhaskar Reddy, Pattabhirami Reddy and others attended the final rites on Saturday.

Mr. Narayana, who stayed until the funeral was over, said Zakir’s untimely death had deeply saddened him and recalled his constant efforts for the development of the Muslim community, adding that his services to the party would be remembered.

Mr. Abdul Aziz said the death was a great loss to the party and the Muslim community and urged the State government to re-establish the Skill Development Centre earlier supervised by Zakir and name it after him.
