Taruni Tarangalu, a Vijayawada-based women’s organisation, will organise its sixth ‘Mahila Utsavalu’ on January 7 and 8, said organisation president Raavi Sarada. While Minister for Home Affairs Vangalapudi Anitha is likely to inaugurate the event, A.P. State Women’s Commission chairperson Rayapati Sailaja will participate as the chief guest, said Ms. Sarada, while addressing the media in Vijayawada on Monday.

As part of the fest, a series of programmes have been lined up for the two days. On January 7, classical dance and music performances, essay writing and elocution competitions would be organised for students and women in individual and group levels. In the evening, ‘Manusolu Maata’ programme will be held, during which women, who have reached great heights in their careers despite challenges, will talk about their journeys.

On January 8, folk dances, poetry recitation, short plays and vegetable carving competitions have been planned. NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha and Commissioner of Police S.V. Rajasekhar Babu will participate in the concluding programme, Ms. Sarada said.
