In view of the weather advisory predicting heavy rains in a few districts, the Tamil Nadu government has deputed three teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts, an official release said.

The State government has instructed Collectors of these districts to ensure that precautionary measures are taken, in view of the weather advisory. While two SDRF teams have been deputed to Thoothukudi district, one SDRF team has been positioned in Tirunelveli district.
