As the State goes to polls, huge crowds were seen at the Egmore railway station on Wednesday, as people headed to their hometowns to exercise their voting franchise.

Many NRIs with votes in Tamil Nadu flew down to cast their vote in the April 23 polling for the Assembly election. 

While many Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) posted videos saying they took flights from the United Kingdom, Scotland, and other far away countries to exercise their franchise, the cost of domestic flights from major cities across the country to destinations in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday was almost triple the normal fare.
