It is an intense three-cornered battle in the State involving the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), its rival All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and the new entrant Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in focus, led by actor C. Joseph Vijay. In the exit polls, a majority of pollsters gave an advantage to DMK+. Interestingly, Axis My India gave a massive 98-120 seats to TVK, compared to 92-110 for DMK+ and 22-32 for AIADMK+.

Also in the test will be the performance of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), led by film director Seeman, who has fielded candidates in all 234 constituencies, giving nearly 50% representation to women and one transperson.
