Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (December 24, 2025) flagged off the services of 20 modern multi-axle air-conditioned buses for the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) at the Island Grounds in Chennai.

The buses, procured at a cost of ₹34.30 crore, are equipped with comfortable seating arrangements for 51 passengers each, and will be operated by the Tamil Nadu Transport Department on various routes across the State.

To mark the golden jubilee (1976-2025) of the nationalisation of bus transport in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Stalin also inaugurated the distribution of wall clocks to 1,05,778 transport employees at a cost of ₹3.33 crore.

Ministers M.P. Saminathan, S.S. Sivasankar and P.K. Sekarbabu, Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor R. Priya, Lok Sabha member A. Raja, and senior officials were present.
