The Supreme Court on Saturday (May 2, 2026) said no further order was necessary on the TMC’s plea challenging the Calcutta High Court’s dismissal of its petition against an Election Commission of India (ECI) circular on the deployment of Central Government personnel for vote counting in West Bengal.

The top court noted the ECI’s statement that counting officers for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections are selected from both Central and State Government services, as per the April 13 circular from the Additional Chief Electoral Officer.
